We went up to the mountains to see Aburi Gardens. It should have been a 1 hour drive but it took closer to 3 hours because of traffic. The rain had damaged the road I guess. Once we got closer to Aburi the road was excellent. It felt safer than the Malahat on Vancouver Island. They had recently upgraded the mountain road with double lanes and a cement divider in the middle. We were thankful for that because it was raining so heavily.
This was a weird tree we saw along the way.
This was a view of the new road through the rainy windshield.
This is the entrance to Paduse Lodge where Obama is supposed to stay when he comes in July. Tony was worried when I took this pic because there are police at the gate and you aren't allowed to photograph police or military in Ghana.
Mangoes on sale at the side of the road...we bought plantains here.
This is part of the entrance to Aburi Gardens where soaking school kids were heading home from their field trip.
A chicken cruising through the restaurant at Aburi Gardens (probably tomorrows lunch).
This jungle scene reminded me of Tarzan.
Tony and I waiting for our lunch to arrive...the rain is pouring down right beside the table.
The kids are pounding several cokes a day...big treat since we never let them have coke at home...here it's so hot we have to adjust....
Inside the host tree that has been strangled.
Super tall palm trees.
Charity checking out a massive cactus.
These cool plants are everywhere.
Vines growing up the trees...Tarzan again!
A Cocoa pod...mmmmmm...chocolate!!
Checking out the cocoa tree.
