The Family House in Ada

(The next few posts contain the photos that go with the text I posted earlier)

Uncle Nathan performing a traditional prayer outside the Dugbartey Family house. The spiritual priestess who looks after the family stool...in white...

We couldn't help but notice the pink chickens...I guess if you paint your chickens you know which ones belong to you.

The house where the family stool is kept, the house is white and the woman who takes care of it always wears white.
Uncle Nathan shows us the new monument that was erected a few years ago on the 30 anniversary of Tony's Dad's passing....the area around he gravesite is amazing...it is quite a walk through tall grass to the monument... the breeze from the sea is calming and the whole scene is peaceful....

Palms and Angels...

The old Presbyterian Church at Ada Foah...
(this is where we parked to follow foot paths into the graveyards)

This cross was right on the beach...it was the place where foreigners were buried when Ada was a busy port...many of the graves have been claimed by the sea because of the erosion.

The carvings on the side doors of the church...

The church windows...

This beach has potential for greatness as a resort property but it sits nearly deserted and will be swallowed by the sea before we know it. I can see why the backpackers love this place so much.
