Labadi Beach

I have been offline for 5 days and I have to back up so that I can blog...we went to Labadi Beach last Sunday night.
Labadi Beach is probably the most popular swimming beach near Accra, it is easily accessible from central Accra. On the weekdays it may be a fairly quiet place but on the weekend everyone heads to beach and it's a wild place. They say that holidays are even more crowded.
We arrived around 5pm and were surprised to see all the people were still swimming and enjoying the beach.
They have a very small area that is actually safe to swim and it is marked by red and white flags. The lifeguards are constantly blowing their whistles to get people to move back into the safe area. I assume it's the undertow that makes it unsafe...this seems to be an issue all along the coast.
We walked right through several soccer games. There are some skinny horses that you can ride on the beach...nobody was picking up behind the horses but other than that the beach was surprisingly clean considering the huge number of people there.

All the swimmers are packed into the one small safe area.
Beautiful sunset...new screensaver??
